Storm Nalgae (Paeng) passed through the Philippines. Severe tropical storm Nalgae has brought heavy rains and strong winds to the Philippines. At least 200 000 people are taking temporary shelter in and outside evacuation centres. More than a thousand houses were destroyed due to landslides. Heavy rains flooded parts of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. This is a massive storm with over 1000 km in diameter and is affecting majority of the country. A severe tropical storm has wind speeds of 95 km/h (60 mph) and gusts of up to 160 km/h (100 mph) . Strong winds caused damage to the structure and blowing away loose items. The cyclone is expected to turn northwest thereafter and exit into the South China Sea.
